Foods to Help You Stay Hydrated

It is Summer in the South, and we all know it is essential to stay hydrated. Water plays a vital role in keeping your body functioning as it should. However, high temperatures and excessive sweating will cause you to lose water quickly. But you don’t need to drink gallons of water to stay hydrated. Your body can also absorb water from the food you eat.

Any fruits and vegetables with more than 80% water content are a great choice to help stay hydrated.

Here is a list of foods that are an easy and healthy way to stay hydrated:

  • Cucumbers
  • Iceberg Lettuce
  • Celery
  • Radishes
  • Romaine Lettuce
  • Tomatoes
  • Zucchini
  • Summer Squash
  • Asparagus
  • Bell Peppers
  • Cabbage
  • Cauliflower
  • Mushrooms
  • Spinach
  • Strawberries
  • Watermelon

Any fruits and vegetables with more than 80% water content are a great choice. The foods listed here all pack a little more punch because their water content is 92% or higher. If you have questions about how much water you should get, contact your primary care physician.
