June 1 Week 1 Garden Photos

The Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden near Belmont, NC, was started in 1991 and opened to the public in 1999. It was founded by retired textile magnate Daniel I. Stowe, who donated the 380 acres and initial $14 million to protect the space from urban sprawl and development. The garden was part of Stowe’s original 1200-acre Seven Oaks Farm. In 2025, the name was changed to the Daniel Stowe Conservancy.
