The Home & Garden Information Center (HGIC) provides research-based information on landscaping, gardening, plant health, household pests, food safety and preservation, and nutrition, physical activity & health. Edible Gardens Start Here with Home Horticulture Foundations: Edibles and Orchards

Interested in growing fresh food at home but not sure where to start? Home Horticulture Foundations: Edibles and Orchards is a beginner-friendly Clemson Extension course designed to teach the basics of edible gardening, from vegetables and herbs to small fruits and fruit trees. This six-week online program, paired with an optional hands-on field day, helps South Carolina gardeners build confidence, plan seasonal gardens, and grow food successfully using practical, sustainable methods.
